The general ambiance at Bobby's included bright colors of red, green, and yellow splashed on the walls and in the art work. There were limited seating types - you could choose to sit at the bar that directly faced the grill line, or in cafeteria/picnic style long tables that could not be moved or rearranged. It was difficult to organize a large group. There were maybe two 4-top tables. BERG arrived at 3pm and the location was pretty packed.
The menu included a variety of burger types depicting major cities throughout the US (Miami Burger, Santa Fe Burger, Dallas Burger, etc). Any burger could be "crunchified" which meant adding potato chips. Sides included french fries and onion rings.
When you ordered your burger, you were given a number, and an attendant delivered your meal to your seat when it had been cooked. The group finally ordered and sat down. When our burgers arrived, we were excited to see what made Bobby Flay's burgers outshine the competition (or so we had heard). Unfortunately, this did not turn out to be the case today. :(
Three members and guest judge from our group had to send our burgers back to be re-grilled. They were so rare and not at all cooked medium. One burger even came out with a hair on the plate. When the re-grilled burgers came back, some BERG members noted that the toppings had severely been reduced. What a very important detail to not deliver on.
It is worthwhile to mention that the three BERG members and guest judge that had to send burgers back received a $10 gift card to a future Bobby's visit.
In terms of the actual burger, I found it to be lacking flavor and very salty. I had hoped the array of toppings would compensate for the meat, but they did not. The patty size was adequate. The bun was full of sesame seeds (which some raters like, others do not), and was toasted nicely, however could have used more butter.
The fries were greasy and crunchy and although the portion size was large, it was a tad overpriced ($3) and did not come with the burger price ($8).
